Amazing place to visit!! this woman really cares about the animals, and does everything to ensure they live the good life. You can see this is her passion. I highly recommend visiting. Each animal had their own personality, the turkeys will walk right up to you, along with socks the 36yr old white horse , and don't forget about Chuck, the amazing German Shepard who has an amazing story. And dont forget about Debbie the goose who will greet you! Along with all the amazing and friendly animals . And if you could leave a small donation. That would help the animals tremendously.
Had it not been for the Funny Farm, and all of the wonderful people and animals there, I would not be living a healthier lifestyle than I’ve ever lived in my entire life. Throughout my life, I have struggled with anxiety and depression. When I go to the Funny Farm, I immediately feel better, no matter what is going on in my life. When my mom passed away, I went to the Funny Farm to help me feel better. On my 35th birthday, I went to the Funny Farm to celebrate and it even seemed like the animals knew it was time to celebrate!
I am also very concerned about the ethics of this place. They serve meat and auction off leather handbags at their fundraisers...the meat and flesh of animals they are claiming to save. That's not right. I tried to comment on a photo on their Instagram page, and I could not (they disabled comments apparently?) so I sent them a direct message instead. Very troubling.
This is a safe haven for hundreds of animals..the pure love between animals and humans will change you forever!
The Funny Farm has changed my life for the better. When I first drove through the gate, I was greeted by Farley, the border collie. He’s known as the “farm manager.” Everyone gets along at the Funny Farm. It truly is a sanctuary. It’s my safe place. I first visited the Funny Farm about a year ago, and I found out that Laurie has been saving animals her whole life. This non-profit opened its doors to the public to help people see that animals are sentient beings, and all you have to do is treat them with the love, dignity, and respect that you want.
The Funny Farm brings me an amazing sense of peace and serenity. I know I am always welcome at the Funny Farm. Because of the Funny Farm, I educated myself on veganism and asked a million questions. I have learned so much about animals and how to care for them, just in the year that I have been fortunate enough to know the wonderful people at the Funny Farm. It truly is a magical place. I find myself being more passionate about saving the lives of animals and being more compassionate towards everyone I come in contact with, human and non-human. Anyone who says anything negative about the Funny Farm has a closed mind and doesn’t see it for what it truly is—a safe place and sanctuary where you can be yourself without any judgment from anyone. I LOVE the Funny Farm and will continue to support Laurie and all of the volunteers at the Farm for as long as they’ll let me.
On my first visit, my friends and I got to speak with the owner Laurie and we were given a tour by Robin, who invited me to come to the farm at a wedding we both attended in August of 2016. A 3 month old calf named Yogi came up to me as I was tying my shoe, and just nudged me to pet him. I was kind of scared because I’d never pet a cow before. I found out that he had been saved from slaughter just days after being born and was brought to the Funny Farm to live out his life naturally ever after. Well, I sat down and he put his head in my lap and looked up at me, lovingly, nothing but trust in his eyes. It was at that moment that I said out loud, “I will never eat meat again.” I was inspired to become a vegan just from this one little interaction with this calf.
I am in love with these animals! They are all so wonderful. However, I am very concerned about the level of care they are getting here. Some of the animals looked like they had not been groomed in quite some time. I believe that at a sanctuary animals should be receiving the best care possible, and I am worried that is not happening here.
I am visiting the farm for a wedding today and thought I would check it out online before I got there. I like what I am reading and love that someone is giving these animals homes. However, to read these comments is making me sick. Grow up people!!! A majority of the American population eats meat and not only owns but cherishes their pets! I myself have a pot belly big and still eat bacon. I would love for someone to try and tell me that I dont love my piggy. You people should really stop attacking this woman and stop trying to push your views on others. Keep it to yourself. She is obviously doing what she needs to do to, and it must be working cuz the farm is still there. You people should worry about your own contributions to animals and let this woman operate in peace.
