Josh is an absolutely awful manager and should be fired. Don't go when he is working. Regardless of what you prepaid for, he over charges you and cut my parents massage time from 50m to 25m because they were ten minutes late. He called the cops because he can't peacefully resolve customer issues. Josh also rolled his eyes, tapped his papers in front of my parents faces. Refused them a copy of the receipt. Told the massage therapist not to speak to my parents when the police and my mother asked for her to confirm that they only had 25 minutes. He also told my friend in a job interview that he's only interested in money and not letting people leave with anything or be happy. If you want a relaxing place, don't go here. The therapists are great but the manager is so horrible he gives Hand and Stones everywhere a bad name. So unprofessional and he wouldn't even give us corporate's number to resolve this issue.
I had a wonderful massage at the Cary town location. Starting with the receptionist upon check I was welcomed and offered water if I was thirsty. Yolanda was my therapist and made certain that she knew what type of pressure I liked and where I needed extra attention. I left feeling super relaxed and pain free.
DO NOT JOIN MEMBERSHIP! They make it impossible to freeze your membership by making you come to the facility in person which for someone pulled out of state for extended periods is difficult. Then when you do get there they hand you a form to fill out that clearly says you can freeze for 3 months but then say oh sorry only one month is allowed thats the wrong form. Then I call corp and talk to Brittany an operations manager, who agrees you can freeze for 3 months twice per year and states she will call me back and never does. Even after ive followed up with a voice mail. Oh and Josh the manager he never calls you when he says he will either. I have probably 7 months of services on account I cant use and they just keep taking my money because Im call out of state frequently due to work demands. Money stealers!
Service is good. The workers are good. I haf good experiment but the management sucks. I signed the paper for cancellation last month...and I called this month to use one of the free service that I had and after booking appoinment, I asked if everything is good with cancellation and paperwork and the girl said they dont have my cancellation papers...i am worried i hope they dont charge me again because of their management cant file the paper.
I have tried to use this location for over a year, and I have officially given up. Even though I finally found a great masseuse that helped with my deep knots, I would rather drive to a less convenient location than go back here. I was charged incorrectly twice and it had to be resolved with a manager because the staff person at the desk simply refused to help or didn't know how to resolve the situation otherwise. I have been booked for and received the wrong type of service (an upgrade that was never requested, confirmed on the phone, confirmed when I got there, or confirmed by my masseuse, and I didn't notice any "deep tissue" differences in my massage). Needless to say, I was confused when I checked out and was told to pay a different rate. When I didn't understand the rate they were charging me, they told me it was my standard massage charge (which I knew wasn't true), and so I called later to resolve. Not only was it not my standard charge, but I had been charged with an upgrade when the desk attendant didn't even know they charged me with an upgrade.
On the last occasion that I tried this Hand & Stone, they told me I had to pay a $10 "transfer charge" to use one of my prepaid packages since I had originally joined at a different location (Voorhees- which is fantastic, by the way). As I mentioned, I had now been going to Mays Landing for a year. I never heard of nor paid this "transfer charge" before. When I told them this, they told me it has always existed. I don't think that is accurate, and regardless if it is I had never paid the charge before and was never notified that I would have to pay it if using a package from a different location. I refused to pay the charge, left, and will not be going back. I do not think this charge was accurate, since I had never heard of it before, but other people did pay that fee that day while I was waiting in line to be checked out. (That's another thing, they are incredibly slow, which was my usual frustration with the location).
When you go to get a spa service you ultimately want to relax and feel relieved after that hour. However, no matter how great my service was, I always left this location feeling stressed (by a billing issue I would have to resolve by calling/emailing a manager) or annoyed by the attitude of the staff. The staff was very incompetent, if they could not explain the reason behind a charge (which was always questioned because it was wrong) they would not do anything about it. I once checked in for an appointment and both before and after my service the desk attendant spent a few minutes complaining to me about their boss and giving me the run down of their recent confrontation- profanity and all. I don't go to a get a massage to have to listen to a stranger's work problems, I go to forget about my own!
