Safety Town has been around for at least the past 35 years. I am recounting my experience from around 1984, when I was about 6 years old. I can't remember exactly how old I was when I attended, but 6 sounds about right. I loved Safety Town, and it was the beginning of my interest in roads and maps; a passion that continues to this day. Later on, when I was a teenager, I became a volunteer at Safety Town and did my best to extend my great experience there to the group of younger kids.
Cheers!
Don't take my review here as completely accurate information. Again, this is my recollection from 35 years ago. Things may have changed since then. I would advise calling the library, or looking for information online.
Safety Town was (and I believe still is) a part of the Hamilton Township Public Library's short Summer program, where kids attend a sort of day camp for a couple of weeks. I also recall learning about the library and having lunch and story time at this program. The Hamilton Township Police Department, which is right next door, also play a part with Safety Town.
